| Birth: | May 8, 1834 | | Death: | Feb. 15, 1920 Dayton Montgomery County Ohio, USA |  Civil War Union Brevet Brigadier General. At the start of the Civil War, he was a prominent businessman and member of the Ohio Militia. In August, 1862, he joined the Union Army and was commissioned Captain of Company D, of the 94th Ohio Infantry. He saw action at Perryville, Kentucky, Murfreesboro, Tennessee and was promoted Major in September, 1863. In 1864, he was promoted Lieutenant Colonel of the 94th Ohio Infantry and engaged at Missionary Ridge, Kennesaw Mountain, Peach Tree Creek, the Siege of Atlanta and General Sherman's March across Georgia. In early 1865, he was detached from the 94th Ohio, posted to the Recruiting Office in Charleston and organized the formation of the 105th US Colored Troops. For his war service, he was brevetted Brigadier General of US Volunteers on March 13, 1865. (bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)
