Birth: Oct. 12, 1811
Forsyth County
North Carolina, USA
Death: Oct. 12, 1892
Forsyth County
North Carolina, USA

George Douthit was born at Hope, Stokes (present day Forsyth) County, North Carolina. George was the eldest of two known children of Philip Douthit (1783-1821) and Margaret (went by Peggy) Cooper Douthit (1790-1832), who married 06 Dec 1810 at Rowan (present day Davidson) County, North Carolina. George died in the area around Clemmons/ Clemmonsville on the present day border of Forsyth and Davidson Counties, North Carolina. He can't be found in any of the area cemeteries. It is not known if he is buried at one of the cemeteries without a marker (or at least a marker that exists today) or was buried in a family cemetery such as a field on his farm.

George married first to Nancy Sprinkle (1813-1876) on 14 Oct 1835 at Davidson County, North Carolina. George and Nancy were the parents of seven known children, six girls and one boy, namely:

1. Laura Ann E. Douthit Frank (1837-1901)
2. Thomas Bryon Douthit (1839-1911)
3. Mary Emaline Douthit (1841-???)
4. Sarah E. Douthit (1843-???)
5. Olivia Gertrude Douthit Bessent (1846-1881)
6. Adelaide Victoria Douthit Spaugh (1848-1893)
7. Augusta Virginia Douthit Bessent (1853-1923)

After Nancy died, George remarried to Mrs. Lucetta Blackburn Boner (1837-1909) on 31 Jul 1879 at Davidson County, North Carolina. George and Lucetta were the parents of one known child, a son, namely:

8. George Washington Douthit (1881-1963)

When George died in 1892 he left six children, including a Mrs. David Peck of St. Joseph, Missouri. Was this Mary or Sarah?
