Death: Feb. 25, 1954
Paris

Architect. Specializing in reinforced concrete construction, his work was an interpretation of the neo-classical style that effectively blended modern theories with Gothic forms. He is best known for designing the Théatre des Champs Elysées (1913) in Paris, France, and for his post-Word War II reconstruction of the city of Le Havre in Normandy. Perret taught at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts (School of Fine Arts) in Paris, won the Royal Gold Medal in 1948 and the American Institute of Architects Gold Medal in 1952. (bio by: Samuel Taylor Geer)
