Helen Marie Payne was born on September 29, 1903, in Kansas, her father, Thomas, was 21, and her mother, Grace, was 16. She married Otto Paul Mauser on October 28, 1929, in Los Angeles, California. They had two children during their marriage, Joy Patricia who died as an infant, and Nancy Lou. Helen moved to Yucaipa with Nancy following the death of her husband Paul. She built a home for the two of them next to her parents who had moved to Yucaipa in the 50's. Helen died on February 7, 1960, in San Bernardino, California, at the age of 56, and was buried in Glendale, California.
