Cephas Guthrie, Esq., died at the home of his son-in-law John Kiger, in Franklin township, Tuesday, January 18, of heart disease. Mr. Guthrie was in his 82nd year and was one of Greene County's most respected citizens. He was a tipstaff in the court room for several years. The funeral took place on Wednesday, interment being in the Guthrie burial ground in Whiteley township. The funeral was attended by a large concourse of friends. He leaves several children and will be greatly missed in the community.
