Graduated from the Burdett Business School and operated Burnham's Jewelery Store and Burnham's Jewelry and Photography Studio in Waterbury, Connecticut with her husband. Bernice was a member of the Waterbury Public Library Board, the Montpelier Women's Club, past president of the Waterbury Women's Club and past president of the Vermont Federation of Women's Clubs and member of the Endowment Fund. Past Vice President of the New England Conference and Women's Clubs and past chariman of the General Federaion of Women's Clubs. Also a past president of the Vermont Professional Photographers and treasurer for 20 years. Also an active member of the Vermont Jewelers Association. Bernice was a founder of the Nature Trail at Harwood Union High Schol and founder in developing the E.L.F. Program at the Waterbury Elementary School. Served on the board of directors for the Vermont Natural Resources Council and past president of the Oneida, NY American Legion Auxillary.
