Cassius M.C. and Susan Elizabeth (Dunlap) Dent had four children: Ethel (Dent) Myers, Homer Dent, Frank Dent and a child who died in infancy. Susan Elizabeth died 12 February 1901 of tuberculosis. Cassius was foreman of Riverside Farm near Rock Rapids and soon after his wife's death moved west to Wyoming with the boys to ranch in the Big Horns. Ethel was sent to live with her aunt at Chariton.
