Lorenzo G. Borrego, 76, of Silver City, died Tuesday. Mr. Borrego was a communicant of the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and was a past member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a filter operator at Chino Mines Co. and retired after 30 years of service. Mr. Borrego is survived by his wife, Carmen Borrego of Silver City; one daughter, Jean B. Barreras of Rowland Heights, Calif.; three sons, Bobby Borrego and Norman Borrego of Silver City and Rudolph Borrego of Pasadena, Calif., two sisters, Josephine Horcasitas of Silver City and Virginia Fletcher of Deming; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. A visitation was held today from 2-4 p.m. in the Wheeler Funeral Home Chapel and rosary recitation will be held tonight at 7, also in the Wheeler chapel. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated Friday at 2 p.m. in the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. The Rev. Richard Lynch will officiate at both services. Interment will follow in the Silver City Catholic Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be David Borrego, Mandy Borrego, Bobby Borrego, Jr., Michael Borrego, Emile Borrego and Eric Barreras. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Frank Gonzales Sr., Joe T. Morales, Rudy Jacquez, Dennis Barreras, Steve Aguirre, Albert Cardoza, Tony Jacquez, Frank Salaiz, Mike Melendrez and Crecencio Moreno. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to the American Cancer Society. The Wheeler Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
