Darin was born 22 Jun 1960 the son of Gearld and LaRae Brown Birch, at Rexburg, Madison, Idaho.
He attenden the Adams Elemetary School where he had finished the fourth grade.
Darin was drowned 22 Jun 1970 in the Rexburg Municipal Pool while a swimming party was being held in his honor for his 10th Birthday.
Cheif of Police, Murray Ford, said investigation disclosed Darin and a number of his friends went to the pool at Porter Park in the afternoon for the birthday swimming party.
During the late afternoon the other boys left, but Darron was not missed until he failed to come home.
At about 5:30 his mother called the pool, but officials said they could find no trace of him. A violent wind storm forced the pool to close at about 6:00P.M., but it reopened at about 7 p.m. for an M.I.A. girls swimming party. Even during this time the body was not seen.
After the Rexburg police were alerted they began a citywide search but finally returned to the pool where they found the body immediately below the diving board. His clothes were at the pool, but pool officals said boys often forgot their clothes.
Survivors besides his parents are his younger sister, Lisa, and two brothers, Bryan and Michael; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Birch, St Anthony, and Mr. nd Mrs. H. M. Brown of Rexburg.
Funeral Services were held at 1:30 p.m. 25 Jun 1970 at the Rexburg 1st Ward Chapel with Bishop Vernon h. Edstrom Presiding with Jim Flamm Conducting. He is buried in the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery.
