ALICE JACQUELINE WRIGHT STALLARD CEDAR BLUFF, VA –
"Jackie" Stallard, 81, went home rejoicing in reunion with her husband of 50 years, her parents, her daughter, three siblings and other family members on Friday November 2 , 2012.
Mrs. Stallard was actively involved in the Exeter United Methodist Church for fourty- five years and she was a member of the Gideons' Auxiliary. Jackie was the co-founder of the Emory L. Stallard Scholarship at Southwest Virginia Community College.
She was an adored wife, and a concerned mother and grandmother who enjoyed singing, reading , working with her flowers, collecting funds for worthy causes, and keeping in contact with distant friends via letter writing. Jackie was a breast cancer survivor and a devoted prayer warrior, and was affectionately known to her granddaughter as a "Domestic Goddess". In later life, Jackie had the opportunity to travel and entertain people from different countries, and in her final years, she reveled in sharing experiences of her childhood, and as a teacher in a one-room school in Flat Gap, with residents and doting staff and visitors at Golden Age Memory Care.
Preceding Jackie in death were her parents, William Troy and Verah Belle Maynard Wright; her husband, Emory Lee Stallard; an infant daughter, Aretta Stallard; a sister, Louise Hibbitts; and two brothers, Frank Wright and John Wright.
Survivors include her daughters, Alice Laverne and husband Michael Sterling-Beatrice, NE, Angela Lynn Stallard-Big Stone Gap, VA, April Leigh and husband Wayne Hess- Cedar Bluff, VA, Adrienne Laurene and husband Paul Sturgill-Cromona, KY and Alvera Lisabeth-Berea, KY; her sons, Allen Loren Stallard and wife Margarita-Palm Bay, FL, Aaron LaRue Stallard and wife Darla-Brookwood, AL and Anthony (Tony) Lestor Stallard -Floyd, VA; brothers, Bill Wright and wife Amy-Panhandle, TX, Lowell Wright and wife, Una-Mineral, VA and Dan Wright and wife Carolyn-Reidsville, NC; sister-in-law Edna Johnson and husband Johnny-Clintwood, VA; 21 grand-children; 26 great-grandchildren; special niece, Brenda Belle Witt and husband Bill-Mineral , VA; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; a special friend, Elsie Fultz; and a host of friends and loved ones.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 pm Sunday November 4, 2012 in the Sadie Baker MemorialChapel with Reverend Robert Fultz, JR. officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm till time of services. Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 am Monday November 5, 2012 at the Dewey Memorial Cemetery-Pound, VA with a short message by Reverend Annette Warren, who provided friendship and spiritual support during Jackie's final months.
Family members will serve as pallbearers. Family and friend are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10 am to prepare to go in procession to the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, the Exeter United Methodist Church or the Gideons. Baker Funeral Home-Pound, VA is serving the family of Alice Jacqueline Wright Stallard.
