Professional Wrestler. He is considered to be America's first Wrestling Champion. Learned wrestling in the Union Army camps during the Civil War. When the war was over he became a police officer. In 1881 he retired from being a police officer and became a full time professional athlete, one of the very first in American history, in any sport.
