| Birth: | Aug. 26, 1827 | | Death: | Feb. 2, 1900 |  Social Reformer. Organized the local soldiers' aid societies, appointed State Sanitary Agent by the Iowa Legislature. Served as National President of the W.C.T.U, and established the Woman's Relief Corps. She is credited with having secured the passage of a law by the 52nd Congress, to pension army nurses, and she was instrumental in founding the Kentucky Soldiers Home. Wrote many books, hymns, and was editor of the "Christian Woman".
