French officer and hero of the Seven Years War in America. Knight of the Royal and Military Order of Saint-Louis. Born in Saint-Georges, near Agen (France). He began his military service as second lieutenant in the Regiment of Bassigny, on January 2, 1744. Then, he became ensign on February 13, 1745 and four months later, on June 2, 1745, he received his commission of lieutenant. He was made captain on November 1, 1746 in the Regiment of Berry, then was later given the command of a company ofriflemen in the Regiment of Béarn. Along with his friend Louis de Missègle Bonne, he was mortally wounded in a trench the English artillery, on April 29, 1760, at the time of the siege of Quebec. He died on May 15, 1760. He had received the Cross of Saint-Louis on October 20, 1758. His father-in-law, François-Clément Boucher de La Perrière, who was also Knight of Saint-Louis, had been mortally wounded seven months before, at the Battle of the Plains of Abraham. Both of them are buried in the cemetery of the General Hospital of Quebec from which a part, called "Cemetery of the Heroes", became in 2001 the Memorial of theSeven Years War. (bio by: Guy Gagnon)
