STERLING – Agustin M. "Joe" Villa, 69, of Sterling, died peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on May 31, 2010, at Kindred Hospital, Sycamore, from complications of diabetes. He was born Oct. 29, 1940, in Greeley, Colo., the son of Manuel and Antonia (Manzano) Villa. He married the former Karen Douglass on Nov. 20, 1965, in Sterling. Joe was employed as a welder at the former Northwestern Steel and Wire Co., Sterling, for 32 years, retiring in 1999. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Sterling. He enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, playing golf, fishing, hunting, and each year going up to On Holden Pond near Oregon. He especially loved baby-sitting his grandchildren. Surviving are his wife; six children; five brothers; his four sisters; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Jenny Dennis. Celebration of Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Sterling. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Sterling.
