Dr. and Mrs. John L. Hazen of Brockport have received word that their only son, Lt. John Livermore Hazen Jr, was killed in action in Italy on February 24.

Lt. Hazen was born August 9, 1920. He was graduated from the Brockport High School in 1937 and spent a year in post-graduate study. He then spent a year at the Stanton Military School at Cornwall, NY., and two years in the engineering School of the University of Rochester. He was entered at West Point in 1941, graduating in 1944. The day after graduation he was married to Miss Ona Katherine Warner of Tampa, Florida. After a month's vacation he was assigned to the Field Artillery School at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, and graduated in September 1944. He then was sent to Camp Swift, Texas and went overseas in January, 1945. He was attached to the 604th Field Artillery, the "Mountain Battery" and immediately was sent into Italy where he was killed in action on February 24, 1945.

Lt. Hazen leaves besides his wife and parents, one sister and an aunt.
