He began his business carrer as grocer wholesaler, in the 1870s and in 1880, he became the single owner of the Whitehead Turner Company. He was an administrator for various banks and businesses in Québec. He was President of the Wholesale Grocers Association in 1887 and 1888, of the Chamber of Commerce of Québec from 1889 to 1892, of the St George Society of Québec and of the Québec High School. He served as honorary vice-consul of Mexico in 1900. He was elected alderman to the city council of Québec and sat there from 1879 to 1882. He was named to the Legislative Council for the division of the Gulf on August 5, 1897 and supported the Liberal Party in this house. He died in function in Québec, on December 22, 1917.
