Amy Lockwood was born on March 11, 1733/34 in Greenwich, the daughter of Caleb Lockwood and Mercy Webster. The name of Caleb's wife was found in the following reference: Wicks, Edith M., Genealogical References in Stamford, Connecticut Land Records, published in 1998.

She married Jeremiah Mead in 1749 in Greenwich, Fairfield, Connecticut.

Jeremiah was born on February 13, 1726/27 in Greenwich, Fairfield County, Connecticut. He was the son of Caleb Mead (1694-1733) and Mary Holmes Mead, both of Fairfield County.

Military Service of Jeremiah Mead:

Jeremiah served in the French and Indian war in 1762. In March 1762, the General Assembly resolved to raise 2,800 men, officers included, for the coming campaign "to march to such place or places in North America as his Majesty's said Commander-in-Chief shall appoint." This force was to be divided into two regiments of 12 companies each The 2nd regiment served in the northern campaign [Source: Jacobus: Families of Ancient New Haven, War Service Records, v.1., Campaign of 1762]. He was a sergeant in the campaign of 1762. He was in the 2nd Regiment, Col. Nathan Whiting, 5th Company under Captain Thomas Hobby. He suffered losses in British raids and had his taxes abated.

In 1776, Jeremiah, then 49 years old, also saw service in the Revolutionary War. The rolls of Colonel Philip Burr Bradley's battalion, Wadsworth's Brigade, 1776, show under Captain Samuel Keeler's Company, Jeremiah Mead enlisted June 13, discharged October 1. Captain Keeler and his first lieutenant, Sylvanus Mead, were both Norwalk men, and Mead's History of Greenwich also includes Jeremiah Mead in this company. He was a private in Colonel Philip Burr Bradley's Battalion, Wadsworth's Brigade, in 1776. He enlisted 13 June and was discharged 1 October in Captain Samuel Keeler's Company.

Colonel Bradley's battalion was stationed during the greater part of the summer and fall of 1776 at Bergen Heights and Paulus Hook (now Jersey City); in October it moved up the river to the vicinity of Ft. Lee [Sources: Record of Connecticut Men in the War, p.416; also Mead's History of Greenwich, p. 126].

Jeremiah Mead, Sr. was 88 when he died on February 5, 1815 in Greenwich; his wife Amy Lockwood Mead had died the year before, at age 80.
