Mr. Bill Shingler, age 61 of Donalsonville died Wednesday, August 13, 2008 as a result of a motor vehicle accident.

Mr. Shingler was born October 4, 1946 to the late Morrison P. and Marveen Hall Shingler. He graduated from Marion Military Institute in 1964 and went on to attend Middle Georgia College. He then attended the University of Georgia, where he received a masters degree in public administration. In 1983, he graduated from the Woodrow Wilson School of Law in Atlanta, passed his bar exam in 1985, and began his private practice in Donalsonville. He had worked his way through law school as a charter pilot. Mr. Shingler was the first In School Suspension Officer for the Seminole County School System. He was a member of the Pataula Bar Association, the Georgia Bar Association, the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association, and the Bar of the United States Supreme Court. He served as the Municipal Court Judge for Donalsonville and was the attorney for the Iron City and Jakin City Councils. He was also a member of the Airport Authority, the Quiet Birdmen Association, and the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. He was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church.

Funeral services were held Friday, August 15 at 2:00 p.m. at Friendship United Methodist Church in Donalsonville with Rev. Kirk Loyless officiating. A private family entombment followed at the family mausoleum in Friendship Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Dell Shingler, Donalsonville; two sons, Billy and Jim Shingler Donalsonville; daughter, Leah Banford (Jeff), Crested Butte, CO; brother, Morrison P. Shingler (Angie), Perry, FL; sister, Caroline Kicklighter (Charlie), Macon; adopted mother, Louise Lee, Donalsonville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Morrison P. and Marveen Hall Shingler and one sister, Suzanne Shingler Fowler.

Evans-Skipper Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
