Jonathan H. Watkins, age 19, was tragically and unexpectedly taken away from his family and friends on September 6, 2003. He graduated with honors from First Coast High School in 2001, where he played varsity soccer and tennis. He had just entered his Sophomore year at Florida Community College of Jacksonville and also worked for the States Attorneys Office in Jacksonville. Jonathan was very interested in politics and was looking forward to a career in public service. He was a member of Lake Forest Baptist Church.
Jonathan was preceded in death by his father, Randolph Watkins in 1997, and his aunt, , Diane Watkins in 2003. He is survived by his grandmother, Grace J Dryden, whom he lived with and regarded as his mother. Other survivors include his brother, Shawn Watkins; aunts, Gwen (Keith) McVay and Deborah (Jack) Gordon; uncles, Ronny Watkins and Ricky Watkins; his cousins, Christy McVay and Josh Watkins and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday (today) at Lake Forest Baptist Church. Reverend Alvin Pollard will be officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Arrangements by Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home.
