William James Bean (Bill)
April 3, 1939 - June 15, 2011.
William (Bill) was born on April 3, 1939, in Miles City, Montana, and passed on to join his parents on June 15, 2011. He attended elementary school in Forsyth, Montana and in 1954, his family moved to Hamilton, Montana where he attended Hamilton High School and graduated with honors in 1958. Bill went on to attend Eastern Montana College in Billings, Montana, then graduated with a major in Education and Physical Education. After graduation Bill went on to teach dance. In 1957 he met his lovely wife Helane Gene Morris and they enjoyed 53 wonderful years of married bliss. In 1967, Bill moved his family to Bakersfield, California where Bill and Helane opened a dance studio where they taught dance to children for many years. Bill and Helane studied dance in Hollywood with Nico Charrise, to offer a greater format for their dance students. Bill was a man of many talents, teaching school at Lamont Mountain View School for many years. After leaving his teaching career, Bill joined his wife at Helane's Dance Academy for the rest of his career. During this time, Bill also took on the task of being the genealogist for the McBean clan. Bill spent many hours of researching and developing his family tree.
Bill was preceded in death by his father, Russell Owens Bean and Hazel Luella Bean. He is survived by his wife, Helane Bean of Bakersfield; brothers, Raymond Bean of Corvallis, MT, and Robert and wife Cindy Bean of Missoula, MT. He is also survived by his sister, Bonnie Woolsey and husband Earl Woolsey of Bakersfield; sons, Richard Quast Bean and wife Diana Bean, Nick Morris Bean and wife Rebecca Bean, William James
Bean Jr., and daughter, Belinda C.C. Bean Kelley, all of Bakersfield.
Surviving grandchildren include Rianna and Britany, Nicholas and Kristin, Erica and Savanah and the twins, Trevor and Blaysha Kelley and the youngest Tierra Kelley. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2011, 2:00 p.m., at Greenlawn Mortuary, 3700 River Blvd., Bakersfield.
