March 24, 1915 issue of "The LaFayette Sun":

Death of Mrs. Lewis S. Schuessler.

On Wednesday of last week this beloved woman died at the family residence here. She was the wife of Mr. Lewis S. Schuessler, one of the leading citizens of our town. Before her marriage she was Miss Sallie Trammell. Besides the bereaved husband, she leaves four sons Frank R., Elliott M., Harrison and Roy; two daughters Mrs. J. S. Dowdell and Mrs. G. L. Jenkins, together with many relatives and a great host of friends. The funeral services were held Thursday morning at the Baptist Church (the new Methodist Church not yet finished) and were conducted by Rev. F. L. Aldridge, pastor of the Methodist Church, of whish she was a most devoted member, assisted by Rev. W. E. Faust. Presiding Elder of this District, Dr. E. M. Glenn, a beloved former pastor and Dr. W. C. Bledsoe, a life-long friend. A large congregation assembled to pay tribute to her memory. Beautiful flowers covered the casket and many exquisite floral designs were banked in front of the pulpit. Mrs. Schuessler was a woman of the highest Christian character, distinguished for her personal piety, her tender, sympathetic heart, her devoted love as wife and mother. Through all the years she delighted to minister to the sick and the suffering, the poor and the needy. She sought to make others happy and her friends and neighbors knew that no call on her for help would go unheeded. She will be sadly missed in the home, in the church, in the social circle; "her children arise up and call her blessed," and cherish her memory as a priceless heritage. The sun joins the scores of friends in sympathy with the bereaved husband and children.
Besides the immediate family, the following relatives from other points were present; Mrs. Fannie Chambers, Mrs. J. V. Trammell, Columbus, Ga., Bartow Trammell, Langdale, Ala.; Major Schuessler and family, Thomas Bingham, Roanoke, Ala.; Mrs. A. Saddler, Mrs. M. A. Schutze, Atlanta, Ga.; Miss Kate Roemer, Montgomery, Ala.; Messrs. L. S. Combs, Jas. Lesseter, Lem Askew, West Point, Ga.
