APPLEGARTH, James "Frank," of Belmont, formerly of Hopedale, passed away peacefully Sunday, Aug. 7, 2011, at the OVMC in Wheeling.
Born June 2, 1951, in Martins Ferry, Frank was the son of the late Robert "Joe" Applegarth and Evelyn (Edgar) Applegarth-Carter of St. Clairsville.
He was a U.S. Army veteran assigned to the 1st Cavalry in Vietnam and was a life member of the Hopedale American Legion.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by an older brother; Robert W. "Bill" Applegarth.
Frank is survived by his mother, Evelyn Carter; his sister, Sharon (Jim) Neal; two brothers, Joe (Karen) and Rick (Lisa) Applegarth of Dayton; a multitude of nieces and nephews; and a very special aunt, Martha (Edgar) Bulian of St. Clairsville.
There will be no calling hours but friends are welcome to attend graveside services at the Greenwood Cemetery on old SR Route 22 between Cadiz and Hopedale on Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2011, at noon. Full military services will be conducted by the Hopedale American Legion at the cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Frank's name to the Hopedale American Legion, Post 682, 48225 Rabbit Road, Hopedale, OH 43976.
