| Birth: | Jul. 25, 1857 | | Death: | Jan. 31, 1919 |  Actor. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, he began his career as a vaudevillian and made his debut at the New York Lyceum in 1876. By the late 1880s, his talent as a comedian began to be recognized and he started performing in a series of plays all across the country with many popular actors of the period. He made his big screen debut to great reviews in the role as Fagin in the silent film classic "Oliver Twist" (1912). His other film credits include "Business is Business" (1915), "The Master Hand" (1915), "Wall Street Tragedy" (1916) and "The Marriage Bond" (1916).
