THE DEATH OF JANE LAKE Mrs. Jane Lake, widow of Thomas Lake, died at 2;15 o’clock yesterday morning at her home, four miles northeast of Stockwell, after a brief illness of fifteen minutes. She was awake at 2 o’clock and complained of a severe pain in her head. Dr. Butler, of Stockwell, was called, but Mrs. Lake died before he reached the house. Her death was attributed to apoplexy. She was born in Ohio and was 81 years old. She reared a large family and is survived by four daughters and four sons. She was a member of the Salem Methodist church and was one of the most highly respected women in that community. She had a kind and charitable disposition and her heart was easily touched by suffering or distress. She was quick to respond to any appeal for assistance. She was a very hospitable woman and her home was always open to her friends. The funeral will be conducted from the Salem church on Friday morning at 10 o’clock. Rev. J. H. Kevan will officiate and the interment in Salem cemetery.
