| Birth: | Jul. 9, 1847 | | Death: | Jul. 10, 1929 | James "Windy Jim" Robert Cummins/Cummings was a James Gang member and was involved in the train robberies at Winston and Blue Cut, Missouri. He lived near Kearney and was known as a horse thief. "Windy Jim" rode with Quantrill, most often assigned to Quantrill's lieutenant, "Bloody" Bill Anderson. Jim may have been in on the plot to kill Jesse James, since his sister, Artella Cummins, married Robert Ford, who actually did kill Jesse James. Their son, Albert Ford, was his nephew. "Windy Jim" died at the Confederate Soldier's Home at Higginsville, Missouri in 1929, and is buried in the Confederate Memorial Cemetery at Higginsville Missouri, as is William C. Quantrill. The cemetery is in a State Park, just follow the signs to the Confederate Memorial. The list at the front of the cemetery will show the row and grave number of this grave, however Quantrill's is not listed, but easily found in the back, the only tall marker around.
