Curtis Barton, age 62 years of Roswell, New Mexico, passed away Wednesday, February 14, 1973. Mr. Barton was born October 12, 1910 near Iberia, Mo. in Miller County, the son of Elmer and Bertie (Spearman) Barton. He was married June 1, 1937 in Eldon to Mary Small, who survives.
Mr. Barton had lived in Vienna, Ohio, Springfield, MO. and the last eight months in Roswell, New Mexico. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Roswell. Mr. Barton was a graduate of Iberia Junior College and Academy and of Drury College in Springfield, MO. He was a Meteorologist in charge of the U.S. Weather Service in Youngstown, Ohio at the time of his retirement in June, 1972.
Surviving, other than his wife, Mary, of the home in Roswell, New Mexico, are: one daughter, Mrs. Mary Kay Rust of Sunspot, New Mexico; one sister, Mrs. Fern Reinheimer of Illinois and two grandchildren, Amy Rust and Harlan Curtis Rust.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 17, 1973 at the Stevinson Chapel in Iberia with Rev. Earl Brown officiating. Interment was in the Hickory Point Cemetery under the direction of the Stevinson Funeral Home of Iberia. Pallbearers were Bob Reimheimer, George Harryman, Jr., Gary Small, George Purvis, Claud Arnold, Glen Casey and Bill Kallenbach.
