Verna C. Albright, 82, of Springfield, passed away on Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at St. John's Hospice in Springfield.
She was born on February 3, 1929 in Springfield, the daughter of the late Edgar and Nellie (Nottingham) Marion. She married Samuel Albright and he preceded her in death on September 10, 2004.
Mrs. Albright retired from the State of Illinois Department of Public Aid and also for Lincoln Land Answering Service. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.
She is survived by 4 sisters, Hazel Zick of Springfield, Bonnie Majeras of Arizona, Georgiann Albright of Springfield, and Joyce Friel of Normal, IL, a brother Carl Marion of Athens, IL, Verna is also survived by several other family members: Rose Holloway and Jerry Fox and their children, Angie Holloway, Mindy and Evan Durako, Missy Fox, and Mike McGlothlin, 2 nieces, Penny (husband Paul) Nickel and Brenda Albright, 3 nephews, Danny (wife Joan) Albright, Kyle Friel, and Jason (wife Allison) Friel, 2 great-nieces, Adrienne (husband Bobby) Grover and Stefanie (husband Zack) Hetzelberger, and 2 great-nephews, Lee (wife Leslie) Nickel, and Dan Albright II, and many more nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 6 sisters.
Services are under the direction of Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 E. Allen, Springfield, IL where visitation will be held on Monday, August 8, 2011 from 9 am until time of the funeral service at 11 am. The funeral service will also be at the funeral home with Rev. Vaughn Beeman officiating. Burial to follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Springfield.
