He had been a life resident of the Covington, Indiana area. He was a former chillman at General Motors Central Foundry, Danville, Illinois. He retired May 1, 1961. He did yard work for many years in Covington. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Covington, Indiana.
Surviving besides the wife, are: Three daughters, Lucille Newkirk, Williamsport; Eva Abernathy, Route 2, Veedersburg; Mrs. Harold (Freida) Crowder, Veedersburg; a son, Harold L. Newkirk, Covington; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, two brothers, two sisters and two grandsons.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Shelby Funeral Home with Rev. Edgar Allen officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today (Tuesday)." - Star Tribune
