She was a daughter to Oscar and Marie (Braun) Birkmeyer. She married Wilfred "Bill" Abels, who preceded her in death.
Surviving are two sons, Jerry Abels, Denver, CO, and Tom (Lynn) Abels, Rockford; two daughters, Tina (Steve) Temple, Celina, and Mary Abels, Lima; three brothers, Max (Eleanor) Birkmeyer, Fort Lauderdale, FL, Louis (Patricia) Birkmeyer, Denver, and Charlie (Jan) Grieshop, Mendon; a sister, Margaret Swartz, Minster; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and three stepgrandchildren.
Deceased are a son, Richard; a daughter-in-law, Wilma Abels; a stepfather, Ed Grieshop; and a granddaughter.
She had worked at Meinerding's, Coldwater Creek Landing, Arnie's Corner, John's Bar, Kremer's and Bettie's. A 1948 graduate of Coldwater High School*, she was a homemaker and a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Celina.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Celina.
