An African American soldier who served during WW II, Robert Green served in the 333rd Field Artillery Battalion and trained in Oklahoma. Sent overseas with his unit July 1944, first served at Normandy, later during Battle of Brest.Killed during Battle of the Bulge when he and ten other men from the 333rd FA were separated from their unit, subsequently murdered by German SS troops at Wereth. Remains returned home and buried here in Cleveland at request of surviving family. Check out www.wereth.org for more details on this forgotten group of men.
