John "Jack" Louis Carlyle, 75, of Rigby, died January 23, 2010, in Salt Lake City, Utah.

He was born October 8, 1934, in Idaho Falls, to George Carlyle and Dorothy Summers Carlyle. He attended schools in Ririe, and continued his education at ISU. He served in the US Army from 1957 to 1959. He was a Ririe resident his entire life, except when working out of town. He married Donna Hubbard Carlyle, in 1954, they later divorced.

Jack worked in construction as a pipefitter; his work took him to Prudhoe Bay, Alaska; working on the pipeline, and Nevada; at a nuclear testing facility. He also worked in California, and Texas. He was a member of the Plumbers & Pipefitters Union, and recently received a certificate of appreciation for 50 years of service.

He loved hunting, fishing, and the outdoors. His friends and family thought of him as the nicest and most generous person they have ever met.

He is survived by his son; Tim (Martha) Carlyle, of San Martin, CA, a sister-in-law, Sandra June Carlyle, of Cleveland, Tennessee, and a granddaughter, Kristen Carlyle.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother; Claude.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., January 29, 2010, at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 West Main Street, Rigby. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to services, at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery, under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
