Porter Beebe, 82, for eight years a resident of Alexandria, during which time he served as a city fireman, died at 6:30 a.m. today at his home at 1609 West Tenth Street in Muncie. For several months he had suffered with heart disorder, and an attack which came upon him Monday resulted in his death.
The body which was brought to the Roger C. Gipe Mortuary here was prepared for burial. It will be brought to the family home this evening to lie in state. Funeral services will be held in the First Christian Church here at 2:30 p.m. and interment be in I.O.O.F. cemetery here.
Mr. Beebe was born in Osgood, Ind. and came to this community in 1912, having been married to Miss Gladys McMahan of Orestes. He took a position on the fire department that year, and served until 1920, when he went to Muncie, where he had been connected to the fire department ever since. He was a veteran of World War I.
Surviving relatives include the wife, a son Fred at home; his mother Mrs. Susan Beebe, of Madison; a brother, Roy, of Long Beach, Calif; a half brother, James McFatridge, of Muncie; and two grandchildren.
