WINTHROP - Surrounded by her loving family, Laurie E. Rollins, 54, of Winthrop, died Saturday July 30, 2011, at MaineGeneral Medical Center after a long, courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Waterville, July 18, 1957, the daughter of George and Shirley (Emery) Rollins. Laurie grew up in Winthrop and graduated from Winthrop High School in 1975. She attended the Washington County Vocational Technical School in Calais and majored in Food Service.
Laurie cooked at Nicholson's Nursing Home, later Winthrop Manor, for 27 years. She also took classes to become certified in her profession.
When not working, Laurie enjoyed reading, crocheting, playing cribbage and BEANO. She had recently discovered texting and had become a real pro at it.
Laurie was predeceased by her father, George and brother, Leland Rollins.
She is survived by her mother, Shirley Rollins; her grandmother, Hallie Simmons; her sisters, Linda Rollins, of Winthrop and Georgia Baillargeon and her husband, Raymond, of Manchester; along with several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Burial will be at the Glenside Cemetery. (Kennebec Journal 8/1/2011)
