Bessie B Smith was the daughter of William J Smith 1838 and Fanny.
She married Daniel Rudd, the son of Edgar S Rudd and Adelia Blodgett, about 1897. (Her sister Jennie had married Joseph F Rudd, the brother of Daniel.)
The couple lived in Alexander, Genesee County, New York. They had five children: Fannie Johnson 1898, son 1900, Gladys (Pastor) Harmond 1901, Ruth (John J) Ertle 1903, and Helen Elizabeth Hartle 1904.

Relatives of Mrs. Bessie Rudd
Mrs. Bessie Rudd of East Alexander, who died at the Batavia hospital yesterday, was a native of Gates, Monroe county, and a member of the Batavia Free Methodist church. Besides her daughters, Fanny, Gladys, Ruth, and Helen, she is survived by her father, William J Smith of Alexander, and four brothers who resided with her: William B Smith of Missouri, Charles M Smith of Caledonia and George S Smith of Warsaw.

Death of a Resident of East Alexander at Batavia Hospital
Mrs Bessie Rudd, ages 32 years, died at the Batavia hospital at 6 o'clock this morning. She was taken to the hospital from her home at East Alexander several days ago, suffering from typhoid fever. She was getting along nicely until pelvic abscesses developed and caused her death.
Mrs. Rudd is survived by four children and a brother in Warsaw. The remains were taken from the hospital to Dailey's undertaking rooms to be prepared for burial. The funeral will be held at 2 o'clock on Friday afternoon from the house at East Alexander. The burial will be at Alexander.

Daughter of Mrs. Bessie Rudd, Who Died Last Week, in Hospital.
North Alexander, Oct. 3. -- Gladys Rudd, the ten-year-old daughter of the late Mrs. Bessie Rudd, was taken to the Batavia hospital on Saturday suffering from a fever. -- The funeral of Mrs. Bessie Rudd was held at her late home on Friday afternoon and was largely attended. The Rev. Mr. Freeman, pastor of the Free Methodist church at Johnsonburg, officiated, assisted by the Rev. G. M. Allen of Batavia. There were many beautiful floral tributes. The bearers were George and Charles Smith, Harland Joseph Rudd, Frank Youngers and Earl Bidluck. Those from out of town who attended the services were Mr. and Mrs. Charles Smith of Scottsville, Mr. and Mrs. George Smith of Warsaw, Mrs. Jennie Turner and Mrs Rebecca Clark of Rochester and Mrs. Harl Rudd of Mrilla. The interment was at Alexander.
