Janice Lea Beedie, 70, Oolitic, went to be with the Lord at 7:17 a.m. on Friday at Indiana University Health Bedford Hospital.
She was born Aug. 25, 1940, in Oolitic, the daughter of Tip and Effie (Swafford) Mills. She married Clyde H. Beedie on Sept. 27, 1958, and he preceded her in death on July 18, 2008.
She was a 1958 graduate of Oolitic High School.
She was employed at General Electric in Bloomington for 27 years, retiring in 1997. She attended Springville Trinity Pentecost Mission and was an avid I.U. basketball fan.
She loved to cook for family and friends, loved the outdoors and swimming pool activity. She was a wonderful Mother, Granny, Great-Granny and Sister. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Surviving are three daughters, Lesa (Mike) Bell of Mitchell, Debra (Paul) Gratzer of Bedford and Janna (Tim) Abell of Springville; one son, Mike (Tina) Beedie of Bedford; eight grandchildren, Stacy (John) Ritter of Bedford, Amber (Travis) Thorne of Bedford, Lindsey (Zach) Terrell of Mitchell, Michelle (P.J.) Gratzer and Michael Gratzer, both of Bedford, Tanner Abell and Brianna Abell, both of Springville, and Logan Bell of Mitchell; seven great-grandchildren, Andrew Terrell, Lance Terrell, Grant Thorne, Parker Thorne, Bryant Thorne, Payton Johnson and Colton Johnson; one sister, Karen Joy Brown of Fayetteville; three sisters-in-law, Anna Mills of Oolitic, and Rose Stiles and Lucille (Pete) Pearson, both of Bedford; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; four brothers, Frank, Willie, Garvin and twin brother, Jan Mills; and one sister, Helen Marie, in infancy.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home in Bedford with the Rev. Wendell Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery in Bedford.
Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. until the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, or Springville Trinity Pentecost Mission.
