He began playing piano professionally at clubs in New York's Catskill Mountains but in 1946 he moved to Los Angeles, California, to write music for film and television. Among his many compositions have been more then 400 songs including the Christmas hit, "The Most Wondeful Time Of The Year" and "The Ballad Of Gilligan's Isle" for the classic television series, "Gilligan's Island" which ran on CBS from 1964 to 1967. Wyle also wrote music or worked on such products as, "The Dinah Shore Show" "The Jerry Lewis Show" (1967-1969), "The Andy Williams Show" (1964-1967), "The Flip Wilson Show" (1964-1970), "The Alan Young Radio Show" "Falling Down" (1993), "The Magic Of David Copperfield III: Levitating Ferrari" (1980), "The Captain & Tennille Special" (1976), "The Castaways On Gilligans Island" (1979), "Rescue From Gilligan's Island" (1978), It's About Time" (1966-1967), and "The Brady Bunch Hour" (1977).
