"Natural Causes," Verdict In Death Of Mrs. Sue Myers

That Mrs. Susan Myers came to her death from natural causes was the verdict of the coroners jury last night, following the finding of the woman dead in her yard late yesterday afternoon, at the corner of Oak street and Fourth avenue. Apoplexy superinduced by exertion in the heat was the cause attributed.

At the inquest, who Coroner D.S. Ray held at 7:30 last evening at the Fisher building witnesses examined were Mrs. Harvey Burge who had driven up to the home of a neighbor of Mrs. Myers and saw the body first; Mrs. Ella Beaird, next-door neighbor of Mrs. Myers, Dr. H.C. Putman, who was called; James Stirrat, another neighbor and his daughter, Vera, who saw Mrs. Myers alive about an hour before her body was found.

Testimony Heard.

The testimony was that the woman had been washing in the yard and evidently had fallen backward from her tub, as the washboard and soap were dragged to the ground beside her. Dr. Putman said she had been in his office the day before to have removed a splint from an arm broken about three weeks ago. She was then apparently in usual health and spirits. However, he testified, she had been subject to falling spells now and then. He attributed death to apoplexy caused by becoming overheated.

Mrs. Myers was about 65 years of age. Her husband Perry Myers died a number of years ago, and there are no children. Near relatives are brothers and sisters, Thomas and Henry Rock, Mrs. Nelson Raker, Mrs. Dan Lewis, Miss Kate Rock and Mrs. Betty Maxwell of Canton and vicinity and Mrs. Belle Fouts in California.

The funeral will be held at the South Park church at 3 o'clock tomorrow afternoon, and burial will be in Greenwood cemetery. The casket will be opened at the house in East Oak street from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. tomorrow.
