Ormond F. Harney, 72, of Rural Henry, died Sunday, Aug. 2, 1992, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Born Feb. 28, 1920, in Henry to George and Helen Hartwig Harney, he married Alta Roberta Wabel on Oct. 19, 1944, in Chicago. She died in 1987. One brother also preceded him in death. Surviving are one brother, and five sisters.
He owned and operated Harney Printing Shop in the Chicago area.
A World War II Navy veteran, Ormand served as an A.M.M. 1-c in the U.S. Navy. He served with the 87th N.A.S., Norman, OK. He was discharged on Sept 13, 1945 after serving in the U.S. and New Caledonia.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Henry and Henry American Legion. A Memorial mass was Saturday Aug. 8, 1992. at his church. Cremation was accorded with burial of ashes in Henry City Cemetery. Military rites were conducted by Henry American Legion. Ries & McKitrick Mortuary in Henry was in charge of arrangements.
