Birth: 1803
Kentucky, USA
Death: unknown
Jasper County
Missouri, USA

Peter Lunsford STORM was the oldest son of Isaac and Susanna (LUNSFORD) STORM. Peter's parents were born in Virginia and married in Kentucky in 1803.

Peter was born in Kentucky shorty thereafter. He was named for his paternal grandfather, Johann Peter Storm. The Storm family had come from Kentucky to Indiana Territory and settled first in Clark's Grant, then Jackson, Monroe, and finally Greene County, Indiana.

Peter married Jane Burch in Monroe Co 23 Jan 1823. He farmed in Indiana and may be the Peter Storm who purchased 120 acres in Greene County during the 1830s (or that may be his first cousin).

What is certain is that Peter and Jane Storm were farming in Greene County in 1850, that Peter purchased a tract of 40 acres in Jasper Co MO in 1854, and that Peter remained a resident of Jasper Co. MO until the time of his death in the 1860s.

Peter and Jane are confirmed to have had the following children:

Preston STORM (1825
Elizabeth STORM DRUGAN (1832 1865)
James B STORM (1833 1903)
Isaac STORM (1836
William D STORM (1838 1865)
George Washington STORM (1841 1903)
Peter Lunsford STORM, Jr. (1842 1900)
Susanna "Susan" L. STORM BURCH (1844 1912)
John J STORM (1846
Jefferson H STORM (1848 DY)

Three of Peter's sons (James B., Isaac, & Peter L. Jr.) and his son-in-law, Thomas DRUGAN, enlisted to fight for the Confederacy. Remarkably all four lived to the end of the war.

Peter Storm would have been nearly 60 at the start of the war, but his age did not keep him out of the conflict. According to "1883 History of Jasper County, Missouri", Peter L. STORM was "killed by Federals at his house near Galesburg" and his son William was also "killed by the Federals" near the Center Creek Mines in 1864. Though no date was given for Peter's murder it can be assumed to have taken place between 1861 and 1864. Peter is assumed to have been buried on his own property near Galesburg. No tombstone has been recorded.
