Canadian Politician. Born in Îles-aux-Allumettes, Québec, he studied in his hometown and at the Business College in Ottawa. He began as a farmer, then followed as owner of mills then became a contractor in Chichester, in Morrisburg (Ontario) and finally in Montréal. He dealt mainly with the construction of channels, dams and railroads. He was elected Mayor of Chichester in 1872, a function he kept until 1882. In the by-election of March 6, 1882, he was elected to the Legislative Assembly as the Conservative representative for Pontiac. He was re-elected in 1886 and without opposition in 1890, but was defeated in 1892. He switched parliaments in 1896 when the Pontiac electors sent him as their Conservative representative to the House of Commons. He did not represent himself in 1900. In 1911, he was elected Vice-president of the Canadian Federation of Boards of Trade and Municipalities. He died in Westmount in 1918.
