Birth: Feb. 24, 1839
Thüringen, Germany
Death: Jun. 11, 1905
Franklin County
Missouri, USA

Augusta Rosamunda Paubel the eldest child of Viet and Frederica (Funk) Pauble was born in Sachsen, Shul,Germany in February 1839. Her sibings were Edward, also born in Suhl, Albert John, born on a ship at sea during emigration, and sisters Mary, Ida Louise, Laura and Sophia all born in Missouri. Fifteen children were born to this union: Charles, Willliam, Emma, Amanda, Albert, Fredericka, Edward, Mathilda, Elizabeth, Alexander, Caroline, Laura, Emil, Richard and Ida (Ida's birth cert. lists her as Augusta's fifteenth child; Charles and Laura died in infancy)

Mrs. August Halbach died at her home near Hollow on the morning of June 11, 1901, aged sixty-two years, three months and seventeen days. The deceased had been feeling unwell for several days but no one felt any uneasiness about her condition as she attended to her household duties as usual. Early on the morning of the 11th, she was found in the yard dead by a member of her family. The cause of her sudden death was attributed to heart disease.

Augusta Paubel was born 24 Feb 1839, in Sulen, Thuringia, Prussia and emigrated to America with her parents when seven years of age and, who located in Franklin county near Hollow and her home was in that neighborhood until she died. On June 1, 1857, she was married to August Halbach in St. Albans, MO. To this union twelve children were born all whom survive their mother as does their aged father. The twelve children are: William, Emma Graver, Albert, Amanda Muessemeyer, Frederica Schuster, Mathilda, Edward, Alexander, Lizzie, Emil, Richard and Ida. The remains were laid to rest in the family grove in the presence of a large number of mourning relatives and surrounding friends. The services were conducted by Rev. C.F. Pheiffer of Oakfield.

Thus is finished one of the best of lives. Her name and fame shines not on brazen tablets but is enshrined in the hearts of her husband, children and friends for whom she devoted her long life with all the earnestness of her womanhood. There can be on higher ambition for pure and noble womanhood than to receive the homage of those she loved. That life has not been wasted which merits the love of kindred in life and their tears in death; and such was the life and such was the death of Mrs. August Halbach.
