Mr. Mills, was a son of Balfour Mills and Adelaide Peck Mills. His sisters Mrs. Dorliska Smith and Mrs. Ethel Holland survive.
His education was attained in district schools in the Town of Hume and he attended Pike Seminary and he spent some time at Rochester Business University.
When a young man, he worked in the lumber woods of Michigan, Wisconsin and PA. and also worked in Denver, CO and on the Yerby Ranch in that state. he had lived on his own farm for the past 55 years. He was one of the first breeders of registered Holstein cattle in this section and always told with pride of the numerous ribbons they won.
For many years he was a member of the Mills Orchestra and Merville's Orchestra. He played the bass viola and violin.
As a young man he played baseball with the Rossburg Club as a catcher. At one time he was called to play with Chicago but elected to stay home.
He was one time the Deputy Sheriff of Allegany Co. and served as town constable and ditrict trustee.
In 1892 he married Minnie Hodnett who died in 1897. He than married Julia Dole in March 1898. To that union 2 children were born, Balfour and Adelaide(Mrs. Clyde Hopson) Julia died in 1906. In 1920 he married Effie Redanz, who died in 1942. Besides the above mentioned survivors he is survived by 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
