William Edward Beatty
William Edward Beatty, husband of the late Annie (Hoopengardner) Beatty, Hancock Route 2, died Monday afternoon at the Fulton County Medical Center, McConnellsburg, Pa., after an illness of three weeks, aged 94.
Born in Buck Valley, Pa., he was the son of the late William and Augustus (Fischer) Beatty. He worked as a carpenter and finisher in Philadelphia for many years before retiring and returning to the Hancock area ten years ago. He was a member of Kenderton Lodge No 266, I.O.O.F., Germantown, Pa., and the Brotherhood of Carpenters and Jointers.
Surviving are sons: James A., Reading; Orville R., Needmore, Pa., Elsworth, Gilman, Iowa; and Harry M., Abington, Pa., brother, Dr. Robert Beatty, Huntington, Pa.; sister, Mrs. Mary Hanks, Everett, Pa.; 13 grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Grove Funeral Home, Hancock after 7 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Thursday at the Buck Valley Methodist church by the Rev. Lorne Burton with interment in the adjoining cemetery. The body will lie in state at the church from 1 p.m. until the time of service.
