OBITUARY OF MRS. MARY OWENS
Mrs. Mary Owens, daughter of the late Capt. McFaden, was born on the old home place near Pendleton June 1, 1858, and passed away at her home in Los Angeles, very suddenly from a heart attack on February 20, 1940, having at tained the age of 81 years, 9 months and 19 days.
She was married to George W. Owens of St. Louis June 1, 1881. They resided on the old farm home place until 1902 when the family moved to Los Angeles, Calif., where she has since lived. Mr. Owens passed away in May, 1924. To this union six children were born of which two, Valeria and Clifton, passed away when quite small, and Inez Gormel on December 18, 1939.
She leaves to mourn her death two daughters, Bernice Homan and Darrel Hilton, and one son, Leland Owens, four grandchildren, one great-grandchild, one son-in-law and her aged sister, Mrs. Emma Mobley of St. Louis.
Mrs. Owens was a home loving woman. Her greatest interests were her children. She will be greatly missed by her son, Lee, who was her constant companion and so devotedly administered to her every wish.
Funeral services were held in The Little Church of the Flowers and two of her requested songs were sung, "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" and "When It Is Night Here and Morning There." The weary body was tenderly laid to rest in Forest Lawn Memorial Park beside her daughter, Inez. Many beautiful flowers were contributed. The sympathy of the relatives and friends is extended to the family in having both mother and sister taken in two short months. — A Friend.
