~~~My Great Great Grandpa~~~
Aaron Carey was born May 18, 1869 in Cherokee Nation, Indian Territory, the son of Dick and Sallie (sometimes known as Charlotte) Carey. He and his family were enrolled on the Final Dawes Roll and listed together on census card #7773.
Aaron first married Polly Boots Smith and they had a son named Dick. After this, he married Lidda Bighead and had a daughter, Ayla. Last, he was married to Annie Cochran. They were the parents of James, Jesse J., Samuel, Joseph, Dewey, Celie. Claranda and an unnamed infant.
According to William Henry Henson, a traveling preacher and neighbor to Aaron, he was the best friend a man could have. Aaron looked out for William's family while he was away and if they needed anything, Aaron made sure they had it.
Aaron died November 28, 1937 and was buried in the Lost City Cemetery in Cherokee County, Oklahoma with many of his ancestors and descendants.
