CHARLES H. BIR JR., 65, passed away on Friday, July 22, 2011, at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home, Fort Wayne. Born in Fort Wayne, he graduated from Elmhurst High School and Purdue University with a degree in Industrial Management, in 1969. He worked at Dana Corp, retiring in 2001. He was an avid genealogist and enjoyed researching his family history and life stories. He is survived by his wife, Joyce A. Bir of Fort Wayne; and daughter, Holly K. Bir of Fort Wayne. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles H. Sr. and Mildred A. Sheets Bir; and brother, Patrick Bir. Service is 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2011, at D.O. McComb & Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road, with the Rev. Jan Funk officiating. Calling is from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, July 26, 2011, at the funeral home.
