DEATH OF JOSEPH STOREY
Joseph Storey was born at Lincolnshire, England, March 14, 1840, and passed peacefully into the Great Beyond at his home in Montrose, Mo., January 21, 1921. Left fatherless early in life, it became his duty as one of the elder children to help rear and educate the younger brothers and sisters.
When fourteen years of age he with his mother and family came to America and settled at Delaware City, Delaware. Some years later he went to Brimfield, Ill., where he met and married Ann Motley, who also was of English parentage. To this union was born ten children, three of whom have gone on and wait to welcome the aged father in the "City not made by hands eternal in the heavens." The living children are: Mrs. Sam Lander, Alonzo G. Storey, Mrs. Hiram Pierce, Mrs. Ed Holmes, Mrs. Emma Waldron, Ira J. Storey and Ray F. Storey.
Mr. Storey was a man of exemplary character---brave mentally, morally and spiritually and he gave to the world the best that was in him. About eight years ago he professed faith in Christ, joined the M. E. church, South, and ever after remained a good true christian. In his last illness he suffered almost unendurable pain, but with all the intensity of his christian fervor he would pray for help and strength to bear the agony.
Funeral services were held at the C. P. church, Rev. Nickell conducting the services, and the body was carried to its last resting place in the City cemetery at Montrose.
