Rick Wallis Romney, 67, of Palm Desert, Calif. passed away peacefully in Rancho Mirage, Calif. in the arms of his family on January 20, 2011. He was preceded in death by his father, M. Wallis Romney; his mother, Carol Nadine Romney; and his brothers, Michael Romney and Scott Romney. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Kathleen Romney of Palm Desert; his daughter, Atheena M. Romney of Jordan (son-in-law, Othman Quran, and grandchildren Khalid and Jorian also of Jordan); his son, Rick B. Romney of Palm Desert; his daughter, Tiffany Kay Romney of San Francisco, Calif.; his dog, Zoe; two nieces, one nephew, two great-nephews, and one great-niece. Rick was born in Long Beach, Calif. and moved with his family to Utah as a young boy. He graduated from Olympus High in Salt Lake City, Utah and became an Elder in the LDS Church. He married Kathleen and raised a family. He was self-employed for 37 years (Romney Pools & Covers.) Rick was known for his passion for music and he was a concert promoter early in his career. He was a fan of the SF 49ers and SF Giants. He enjoyed snow skiing, fishing, shooting, off-roading, golfing, horseshoes, playing cards, and tending to his family rose bushes. He was a wonderful father, friend, and mentor, and many considered him to be their second father. On Friday January 28, 2011 visitation services will be held at Forest Lawn Mortuary in Coachella from 6:30-7:30 AM followed by graveside services at the neighboring Coachella Valley Cemetery at 8:00 AM.
