Benjamin Dwight Critchlow was was born in 1844 in
Benjamin Dwight Critchlow was born in New Brighton, Beaver County, Pennsylvania.
He graduated from West Point in 1865 and was appointed as a 1st Lieutenant with
the US 13th Infantry. He was transferred to the US 22nd Infantry in Septemeber
of 1866. He achieved the rank of Captain.
After his Civil War service, he worked as a civil engineer in Alamoso, Colorado
and other points in California, and was employed at various times as a locating
and constructing railroad engineer.
He died at his home in Bellingham, Washington and was survived by one son, Oscar
B. Critchlow, also of Bellingham.
