He married Nellie Irene Herrington on March 8, 1941. They had five children - James Leon Haynie, Jackie Wilfred Haynie, Virginia Gail Haynie, Melba Faye Haynie and Curtis Keith Haynie. He was a pipeliner and traveled over East Texas, South Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, Kentucky, Arizona, and California. Yet Heflin was always home. He loved his family and took great joy in giving especially to his grandchildren. He was a man of many talents, stern looks and a soft heart. The things I learned from my Dad are still with me today. But the most important decision he made was in January of 1971 when he accepted Christ as Savior. Dad I will see you in Heaven.
